nothing about the pedals, but funny to see this guy playing with eddie kramer, a bit surrealistic. i didn't get the point of this video and eddie kramer

Does this mean I am now supposed to come out with a line of Dave Weyer pedals, the West Coast mods?

well, eddie kramer's pedals won't be part of history like your history is.
eddie kramer's pedal ... i didn't even knew that it existed : it's riding on jimi's coattail indeed.
you're free to propose pedals of course. peoples buy fuzz pedals even if their circuits are spread out everywhere.

Not all people are builders. I would rather buy than build.

Does this mean that if I were to come out with a pedal that anyone could build, say the Dave Weyer Woodstock Wah, that people would actually buy it? Even if Eddie had a similar pedal out which he called the Kramer Hendrix Wah? Who do you think people would believe had the real Hendrix circuitry worked out? My guess is he would have a lot more market penetration, I mean, who the hell is Dave Weyer?
Eventually, the pedal that worked the best might win out, but that also might be long after I had become just an entry in a history book.

One large electronics company got ahold of us about rights to the Woodstock Wah pedal circuitry. I told them that they would have to build it the old fashioned way if they wanted it to be authentic, get all the original parts made, like the Paktron film caps and so on. Otherwise, Hendrix freaks would realize it didn't have the right sound and start dissing the pedal as a fake.
Look at all the trouble Xplorer went to to get his Univibe to sound right.

Builders can go to a hell of a lot more trouble to get their gear to sound right than some corporation that needs to make a lot of money to satisfy shareholders. I'm sure most folks would prefer to buy, but could they afford the real thing?

What about the Berkley wha? It sounds amazing. Is there any relation?

you're right, there's no point to build some typical : "almost the real thing, reissue stuff, with new mods and modern parts" ...
only the real thing, with as few compromises as possible. and that could perhaps be a small niche market just for fun, without all the marketting etc ... a shade among some others regarding these hendrixy gears, that could complete what's already out there.
but do you need to do it ?

what is the difference in sound and tone of the modded wha and a stock 1969 Vox 846 Italian wha? not a component question thks

The modded Wah had a broader range, would not constrict as easily when plugged into a FF unit, had less noise when engaged, and a sharper whack right at the end of the pot range. Jimi liked the broad dark band in the middle because he plays whole sections of tunes with the thing on, just opening it up when he needs sustain on his high note stretches.

Are there any good shots of the Wah pedal on the Berkeley Stuff? It was probably the same pedal because he used it from 69 through 70 until late summer.
