I think your modification would be better classified as a Jose type mod, based on the so called Jose schematic floating around. See attached. You'd need to simplify it, but I'm sure there are some relative principals within. I didn't care for the loss of the cathode follower myself. No matter what I tried, it just didn't retain the same playing dynamics. But? I am no guru at this stuff either! In any event, I feel no one is re-inventing the wheel here. It would be cool to see what you've done in relation to what I've posted, so we can make an educated (or lack of) evaluation.

Mark had mods that had the cathode follower MV and mods that just used the existing tubes and turned it into a 4 gain stager, plate driven tone stack.
I think up loud i prefer the cathode driven MV before the tone stack. something very cool about it. definition maybe. ???

Jerry,
I don't know a whole lot about them but can you classify any of Mark's known mods/amps as having the cathode follower MV or the plate driven tone stack? Such as the Aldrich, Ocean, or Jose mods?

Thanks!

Ill give it a shot

The jose schem like you see is mostly what he uses as his jose. some variations of course. MV after cathode but before tone network
aldrich plate driven tone network after 4th gain.
ocean not sure never seen one. if it was done for Doug then most likely plate driven 4 gain stager with tone tweaks.

you would be surprised to see a cameron schem. his secrets are more power section related and the totality of all the little goodies adding up to a killer sound.

I have a new model designed by him
the Hybrid 100

at surreal dot com ... hope thats ok with the mods.

look at the kevin o'connor 4 gain stage or the rocca specs floating around here, it may get you at a starting place

And finally the Splawn... I have no way of determining if these are accurate. They are for learning purposes only guys!

the KOC is the wrong one to compare. His example of a 4 gain stage preamp is dead on to the early rocca stuff. no biggie but he didnt have to be an ass about it.

I have a jackson schem somewhere. He puts the added gain after the tone stack.

the ungooped cameron? I deduce that it was either ungooped before shipping and then this would make you mark cameron or you are a close friend. I have never seen an ungooped cameron. At least not one after it left the shop. OR its not a real cameron mod

Dedouche' all you want? Power cap changes, Negative feedback cap switching, Plate fed tone stack? I don't care myself... But some of these are noted to be his trademark mods.. Sorry? :palm: I can not prove a thing. :bang:
