Re: shared-split cathode switch ?
thanks man,
now i'm gonna add some switchs for the lead/bass mod, by myself , looking at the boards layouts. i think i can do it
and also, changing all these caps to mustard caps. but on the hendrix amp, one cap is blue, and one said it was a factory "chicklet" don't know what it means, but it seems important.
and the 6550 : i should find the info for changing some resistors OR some caps, but i'm not sure about what was told to me.
the preamp tubes , i don't knowc too .
do some have the best links to the 6550 and perhaps mullard preamp tubes i should get ?
it seems that there are plenty different ones, and old and new, and reissue, etc ... i don't know about it. still BOG ...
i definitely love the shared cathode, thanks again.

Re: shared-split cathode switch ?
Is the a way that you could have 1st position 1Va 330uf 820 shared , 2nd 1va+Vb 330uf 820 / .68ug 2.7k split , 3rd 1Vb .68uf 2.7k shared on a switch ? has any one got a diagram ?

Re: shared-split cathode switch ?
Any way of getting this type of switch not to pop? By putting 1M resistors between the switch terminals maybe so that the circuit is never broken? Or would that throw the cathode values out of whack? Thanks.

Re: shared-split cathode switch ?
I know this is an old thread that was gently explained, but I don't get all the aspects of this mod.
The diagrams shows a SPDT switch.
I guess it is ON-ON type, right?
2A at 250VAC is fine?
And just to be sure, 220uF/820ohm and 0.68uF/2K7 start at the same point in the board, right?
Thanks a lot. I', sorry to ask such a simple question.

Re: shared-split cathode switch ?
what are the tonal benifits of a shared cathode? less gain?
i think this might be what im looking for as a plexi extra stage mod ive been working on without a trebel peaker circuit on my 1959/2203/#36........right now the plexi xtra stage (dual 2.7k/.68u stages) is cascaded without a peaker. so my goal is to try and keep it plexi sounding with just a bit more drive......

Re: shared-split cathode switch ?
Yeah I know,
it's a very old thread
but in case someone
stumbles on it....
One more option use the DPDT
use the other half of switch to
parallel a .02 coupling with a
.002 on the lead channel side. So when
you SPLIT you have .68uf/2k7 on lead
channel with .002 couple cap.
SHARED you have
.68uf/2k7 on lead with .022uf coupling cap
i.e.
split .002 couple on lead
shared .022 on lead.
just a thought.
don't want to waste one half
of switch now do we. the point is
the .002uf is faster recovery and
standard for lead channel.
PS put switch on tube side
and use shielded cable
I'll add pic later.

Does it pop or make any noise? Can you switch it while playing??Mark wrote:Yeah I know,
