Digitech MEQ Mono 28 EQ Repair - Billy Gibbons

Post by Krinkle » Tue Jan 10, 2012 4:00 pm

I bought an MEQ Mono 28 MIDI EQ on eBay because I am a huge Billy Gibbons fan. When I got it, it powered on but moving the dial doesn't cause much change. I think it is probably the encoder, the pot like device that the dial attaches to. I was able to see the part number on it and I have one on the way. I am hoping I get lucky and it fixes it.

I got one of the pcb schematics (there are 2) from Digitech support, but if anybody has any experience with the Mono 28 or any of the MEQ series, or any ideas at all, please let me know. I am a tech so I am hoping that I can fix this but there are never any guarantees. Anybody ever hear of one of these having a problem like this?

What was the fix? I know this is a old thread but I have the same problem. Just bought a MEQ Mono 28 and the dial does nothing. Thanks

It was the dial, when I took it out it was cracked. I found the part number on the part and bought it at Mouser. From what I remember it was very easy to change. Good luck.

My encoder is a Bourns ECW0J-C24-SE0006 but the Bourns data sheet on Digi-Key does not list the "S" code. The closest I can match up is a ECW0J-C24-BC0006L. Do you have easy access to the part number you ordered?

What's odd is the E0006 is listed as having no detents but mine has 24. The C0006L that is available is listed as 24 detents. Does your encoder have detents?

Thanks

Sorry, I looked through all of my previous Mouser orders when you first posted and I could not find it. My new encoder did have detentes.
