1969 Superlead Chassis Corrosion Protection

Post by eagle » Mon Nov 20, 2017 4:22 am

I am restoring my 1969 Super Lead. It has a kind of gold patina finish on the chassis. There are areas where the finish was removed when it was worked on. What kind of finish is on the chassis? Does anyone know how I can restore the original finish of the chassis?

Hi and welcome

Zinc chromate is the modern equivalent.

Most people would just brush the loose rust off and give it a light wipe with machine oil and accept it as patina on a vintage amp.

Only OCD pushes people to strip the whole chassis for it to be replated, but if it is that bad you can go to Valvestorm and buy a new one.
