Hi! I recently bought an Ampeg VT-22 from Guitar Center. Decided to do a basic grounding test before turning it on and I noticed a possible issue.
I plugged one end of a speaker cable into the speaker jack and tested the continuity from said cable to the ground of the power cable. Both the tip and sleeve of the speaker cable have continuity to the power cable's ground. The same thing occurs when testing the extension speaker jack. I tested the speaker cable by itself and it's not faulty.
This doesn't occur on any of my other amps. Does this sound like there's a grounding problem or could it be some jack design I haven't encountered before?
Thanks!
