I'd go with grid resistors on v4-5 although the originals didn't have it

I noticed you also used two 5k6s insted of four. Which option is better and why?

I think he has two 1k5 instead of the four 5k6's for the grid stoppers. I think using two 1k5's is period correct for the 12000, but some say using four 5.6's is safer.

Hey guys,

Just to let you know I have finished my amp. It doesn't have all the old stock stuff like some of you guys use but it does sound great. Also another thing that you guys will be surprised by is I used Mallory capacitors instead of Sozo. I have a few Dave Friedman amps and I always thought they sounded great so used them in this build. I will post some pictures and maybe a clip if I get time.

So I put my amp inside a headshell today and when the amp is dimed and I raise my guitar volume I get a terrible noise. When the amp is on the bench or on the amp stand it doesn't do it. Any ideas, its not really a feedback sound, it's a hard noise to describe. Any suggestions would be awesome at this point.

Thanks, Brett

Does your headshell have an aluminium shield in the bottom?

Yes, it has a shield stapled to bottom inside of the headshell

Most likley you need to put the 68k input resistors on the jacks and run a shielded wire from there to the input pin on the first preamp tube. Just on the treble side. The amp is ocilating. Send me a pic of it.

Where can I get the aluminum shield? My MojoMusic head cab is great, but didn't come with the sheild when I bought it. Anybody know where I can find one?

Home Depot has rolls of aluminum sheathing that seems to work fine. Here is a pic of what Dave is talking about. This is Roberts pic from his Larry Grounding thread, Valvestorm has the insulated wires.
