It just never gets old.... 12xxx build in progress
Build number 4 and I still get all geeked up about the process. This one is for someone else, though, as my wife has politely, yet stearnly told me, "Uhh, yeah... this needs to stop..."
Stage 1:
Faceplates applied
Trannys and chokes mounted
Sockets installed.

Nice!
Maybe I've lost my mind, but do you ever listen to songs, while you're building an amp, that have the tones you're hoping to achieve? Sort of building them in through osmosis?
Ok, I'll go take my meds now LOL

If the kids are in bed, then yes... a little VH Zero to get the vibe right... kind of like women and candles and a bathtube

Channeling win into the amp, epic! I take note of who was jamming as I solder the last wire, notables Hendrix (Hey Joe), Ozzy (Mississippi Queen), Slash (Paradise City)VelvetGeorge wrote:Nice!

Chassis work is all done, except PPIMV, cathode follower resistor, and connecting the boards.

Re: It just never gets old.... 12xxx build in progress
Here's a good example of a careless mistake... one ground wire on the wrong lug = exploded capacitor... and for those of you who have never enjoyed the odor of a exploded electrolytic capacitor... it's quite nasty. My wife was NOT amused!!!
Situations like these is where George is absollute king.... very kind to rush out some new screens caps... THANKS GEORGE.
Problem has now been solved. Preliminary voltages are good. I'll be firing it up with the power tubes tonight.
Hopefully... we can let the biasing begin!

Done...
These EH 6CA7 are a bit difficult to bias, but they sound really good.
