Couple bugs to work out yet, but I'll try to do a clip this weekend. I have a new interface I just got that will take 2 mics so Ill give that a try as well.
CM's trannies are about $200 each if I remember correctly, so they are not cheap by any means but they do sound extremely good IMO. Very smooth with some good bottom end.

Amp sounds great. Problem is the sound cuts out about every 5 minutes for a second or two, and then comes instantly back on. Change all the tubes. No change. Looking at the cables but have my doubts as they are fairly new.
Any thoughts?

Were you poking around in there when it blew up or did a big open E chord take it out! :toast:

 Playing. After about 10 minutes I drop D'd A little Unchained and ka-blam! The opening chug on that open D did it. I had the room lights off watching the power light dim on the heavy struck notes. Looked like lightning in the room. Glass flying. I leaped for cover behind a big chair with the Ibanez Destroyer following. :hide: When I looked up there was a big black mushroon cloud. Robert Openheimer couldn't have done better. Blew the top and complete side out of the tube. Never seen one do that before.
I stuck in a spare and checked the bias. Seems ok but I'm waiting to get new power caps from Valvestorm. I think the odd power on/off thing i have going is the caps. Maybe I did something to them with the voltage problem I had earlier . I'll try all new power board caps first and go from there. I've learned more from this amp not working than anything that did.

Yeah! FIRE!!!! Hey, that's what you get for playing Unchained. Those EH 6ca7's seem to be kind of hairy when you run them at 400V and above. Where were you running them?

I think your fine with the Marstran. I have one as well, just havent built another to try it in yet.

Poking away on a 50 watter (2204) for the last few weeks...with major headaches...I'll give Cubase 5 another try for a clip on this one. Im thinking about getting a Mac and just going with Garageband. I saw guy use that a few weeks ago and a dog could fiqure it out. Cubase should come with its own nerd.

I'm with ya. for me, it was in the control panel. have to make sure the signal in and out goes to mic preamp. if you see a signal going to your mixer but nothing showing on cubase, that's the likely cause. rediculous product. if it wasnt for youtube, i'd be down one laptop. was ready to toss it. and that's just doing simple one track recording.

I'll look at that. With the Mac its seems so simple. With a PC, its like it has ADD. Really annoying.
