Little update here. I went with a Chris M. C1998 OT, and will start building when it comes in after the holidays. My amp will also have a ClassicTone laydown PT, and George's old 3H choke. Can't wait to fire up the soldering iron.
Why is it we can remember where all the wires go, but can never find a pick?

I wouldn't say the 2.2k is a joke either. I've built 2 with them and they both sound massive and fit the bill well. I do want to do another build with a 1998 at some point.
Strat's right about orientation being most important. There do seem to be differences in girth but there are other components that can help adjust that as well.
Can't wait to see the build progress.

I just got some parts from Valvestorm. Getting back to the 12003 build. It has a 2'' 2.2K OT.

I didn't mean it was a joke tone-wise, as it has been proven it is anything but that. Just wanted to clear that up.

We know what you mean. There are many tranny's out there that were 2.2k in other amps. Tranny's were swapped from one amp to another on a regular basis for repair needs. Remeber the internet didnt exist as it does until the early 90's. You couldnt just look up a spare part in seconds and have it shipped overnight. You used/salvaged whatever was available.BrownSound1 wrote:I didn't mean it was a joke tone-wise, as it has been proven it is anything but that. Just wanted to clear that up.
