I have a 50 watt metro with classic tones. They sound pretty good and are a really good price. Just finished my 12 series build and went with M e r r e n audio. They are more expensive but awesome.

I just think they sound better. I also have a SLP with Mercury's. To me M e r r e n sounds the best. I like them because they are hand made one at a time. Its all subjective. Everyone has a different opinion. There is a transformer shootout thread on this forum somewhere, where there is sounclips with Classic tone, M e r r e n, Marstan, Mercury and Heyboer installed in the same setup. Check it out.

I went with the Classictone transformers in both my 1987 and 2204 builds and have been very pleased with them. They have been in business for a long time and make a really good product for the money. Just be aware that if you are using the Metroamp instructions for your build, the Classictone wire color scheme will be different that the one used in the instructions. It is fairly easy to sort out the difference so don't let that stop you if that's what you want to use.
