New GPM 45 clips uploaded to plexi replicas

Post by VelvetGeorge » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:56 pm

I couldn't make lots of cranked amp noise in the house so I had to use the Randall Iso cab. I added a little reverb at mixdown to help give it some depth.

Nice tones there, George. When are you going to flash your Gil Yaron replica ? I follow the build thread over at tdpri, and I knew right away it was for you when he mentioned it was going to: "An ampbuilder who does the same with Marshalls as I do with LP´s.."

Congratulations, it´s beautiful.

It's amazing!!! But I've had very little time to do anything since it arrived. I left for Seattle a few days after and have been going nuts ever since. I am making time to play though.

I'll get some stuff up soon. New clips were a good start.

I know where this GPM45 is headed and I'm excited to get a little time on it when I can pry its unsuspecting (but now likely suspecting) owner away from it! Unfortunately, I don't have a Yaron to honor it with... it would be tough to replicate such good tone. Well done George! I'm excited to see your work up close on this one.

It's mine! Or at least will be soon (on it's way - I'll just keep hitting refresh on the Fedex site every few hours til it's here). I'm quite excited to play it through the Scumback cab Jim put together for me last year, and to A/B with the AC15. Will post recordings.

Anyway - not to drive too much traffic to TDPRI, but following is the permalink to the posting with pictures of the Yaron replica. It is gorgeous. Congrats George!

Thanks for posting that link! I know I need to take some pictures, but every time I grab that guitar I end up sitting there playing until my time is all used up! It's a really, really phenomenal instrument. Best I've ever owned by far. Easily one of the best I've played, and very much like the real '59 burst I played last summer in Nashville.

I can only imagine what Gil's Strats and Teles are like.

His work looks absolutely phenomenal. Gorgeous guitar, saw yours over on the thread.
Thoughts on the pickups? Clips sounds great, even through my lame computer speakers.

The tele and strat sounds are more my thing (big Floyd fan growing up in the UK). I'm happy with my custom Bluesboy, so I asked Gil about strat pricing. Not bad at all - about in-line with the Customs Relic NOS from Fender. Considering the efforts he clearly puts in to his pieces, I am sorely tempted. Although I am trying to control my GAS.
