George, a friend of mine has been using one of those CPAP machines since he was about 39, he turned 50 in May and is doing great. Did the whole sleep study thing. Hope all works out well with your physical, have to take care of yourself.

I'll be relocating soon, hoping to go further north. Selling the house via a short-sale, (not trying to get too personal because this is your personal topic) and have yet to decide where to go. It will be several months.
I'd be very interested in helping you out with your contract work if it's applicable/possible. Shoot me a PM in regards to what might be helpful.

My Sis's divorce was final last week on the 14th, two days after what would have been her 25th anniversary, and she and the kids are literally a mess. Divorce takes it's toll on everybody involved in ways one cannot imagine. I feel for you.
Hope things smooth out on your end.

Hang in there and stay strong.

Well, no physical today. Somehow they forgot to tell me that I needed to fast and then have blood taken a week before hand. FAIL.

Rescheduled for next Friday.

George, I just stumbled across this thread. I have been sort of out of touch with things in my own personal hell, but shoot I never have anything that is too important not to drop to help you..
Interested to hear results from your general checkup. If most cardiac issues have been eliminated, that would be great.
Usually sleep apnea affects obese people, which I know you definitely are not!
Stress is the silent killer and I have personally been dealing with this issue, as we all do in our own lives, but certain types of stress, ie; familial based, really hit home like no other.
Please keep me in the loop medically as all my experience I am not currently utilizing as it looks like my career as I knew it is basically over, but I am as always only too glad to help you in anyway I can.
Feel free to PM me or even email me, I find that is quicker, will send you a PM with my e-mail address.
Medical issues are a complex puzzle that can fall into place sometimes easily, but most times to connect and find the missing pieces can be frustrating and nonsensical, even to medical professionals.
Glad to hear you are sleeping better and you are in our prayers.
God bless brother,
Dave

Many thanks for the encouragement!

I went to the doc today for the physical, I'm generally very healthy. That's good news! I wouldn't normally share my private records, but I'll post a few things:

Height 6' 1"
Weight 200lbs
Body Mass Index 26%

Blood Pressure 118/62 (much better than I expected!)

Blood sugar 85 (much improved lately, no longer dropping to low 60's)

Kidney function 98

Cholesterol total 178
HDL 51
LDL 110

Really good numbers, the doc was happy. Just need to eat right to maintain my blood sugar (I've cut out caffeine almost 100% in the last few weeks) and stick with the CPAP machine for my apnea. With this and a little exercise I should be able to overcome the fatigue.
I'm having my testosterone level checked next week, if that's low it could account for some lack of energy.

Not bad for my first physical in about 20 years. Of course, next year when I turn 40 they will start the "more invasive" examinations..... D'oh!

Stats lookin' good, Bro !
Better eating did that for me. Just less of fried foods and red meat did wonders.
I saw a Dietician at the V.A. which got me hip to the good & bad HDL's. I went from just over a heart-attack 300 to under a kool hundo in one month. Unheard of in such a short time. Well There's a few more things I gotsta learn amps I gotta build yet so I ain't checkin' out until that's accomplished.

Ehh, apprentice here in ChiTown...

I too had no idea about all the stuff going on in your life. Now i understand why you used to be around the forum much more a couple of years back than now. Glad you're getting things together and that you avoided any paradoxes involving scopes :D

Sort of
I tend to do more of the re-plumbing in the OR (mainly keyhole bowel cancer and inflammatory bowel disease) but I do colonoscopies two half days a week. I think in the US and bits of Europe the office based guys tend to follow the model of the fine gentleman you have pictured above. I was going to link to some intra-operative pictures but the Metro server could not cope  btw not sure what that guy is doing or suggesting doing with that particular digit - more like an amateur gynaecologist
