Tone stack

I was wondering what values you guys are using in the tone stack and how they sound? I was wanting to experiment a little and was looking for some suggestions.

I'm using 36k/470pf.

33k can give a bit to much of the low mids. higher values solves that problem

For Marshall type amps I prefer the standard combo of

Treble: 500pf cap, 220k-250kB pot
33k slope resistor
Bass: 22nf cap, 1MA pot
Mid: 22nf cap, 25kB pot

More bass? Increase the bass cap value.
More mids? Increase the 25kB pot value.
Shift mids to a lower range? Decrease the mid cap value.
Fatten up the tone? Increase the treble cap value.

Lots of possibilities. Your ears are the judge.

Increasing the slope resistor to my ears makes the midrange "brighter". The SLO uses 47k whereas Diezel uses 39k. 47k together with a 500pf treble cap sounds very fat but a bit nasal to me (all a matter of taste of course). For amps I use for cleaner tones I like a 150pf treble cap with a 100k slope resistor, a 47nf bass cap/250kA volume and a 22nf mid cap.

Cheers Stephan
