I agree with everyone here, if 'Fair Warning' tone is what you are after (with, lets say, 'Man Street' being a target tone) , then you need a bright, attacky type tone, that still has good resonance (hard ash) a Floyd Rose, and, imo, a Custom Custom pu, or other type in that range (12 to 14k awg 43 wind) like the 12k stewmacs.A2 or A5 or ceramic magnets can be swapped around to get at specific preference.
You can get a azusa route with regular h/s/s route and get the floyd Bushing mounting posts, or get a 'rear loaded' azusa body. For rear loaded, I like the San Dimas though (kinda like the Bumble Bee). KNE seems to be great stuff at a great price.

KNE Bee and 5150. Bee is a 2 piece mutt slab and the 5150 is a 2 piece "W" grain pattern. KNE knows what that is.
I've been changing the shape of the horns a little on the Bee, thats why it still looks a bit squared of. 5150 has been grain filled.

Read this thread and contact the guy at Gotoh. They may have lefty's. They make the best Floyd style trems. He'll get back to you usually within the day.

If you get a neck from KNE, make sure you state what you want for the nut. Holes drilled thru neck or not. Also make sure you get the correct nut size that also either has the top screws or the bolt through nuts. I like the bolt throughs, Its a little extra charge from KNE to drill the holes. Don't try that yourself.

Re: New guitar advice for classic VH tone (help a lefty)
Ok,so here is what I plan to order from KnE. I'm gonna build the B/W Franky with a banana headstock. I love the banana,I think I'll put it on all my future builds.
Body- Lefty San D (H),Ash,hardmounted pickups w/pickguard holes
Neck - Rev Banana head,22 frets,12"radius,1-11/16 nut, locking nut shelf, screwthrough holes, neck screw holes drilled. I guess I just tell him I want the output hole routed on top like a strat,I didn't see options for it.
Looks good? The other stuff like pickups and trem I'll give myself a week to find used ones on ebay and if not I'll get them new.

Please don't say you are "building" a guitar. You are simply assembling parts.
