Re: Official post your frankenstrat thread - LET's See THem!
Thx brother. Those are literally hundreds of hours of effort...
Those metal things are called turnbuckles and are designed to put a cable into tension. You'd see them on a gate or something where it's hanging and would naturally sag. Either Ed thought they looked cool or he plugged in and said "crap! Where did all my tone go?!?" and put those on to try to unite the vee for tone.
One day after I'm happy with the baseline tone I have from my rig I'll get some clips with the shark.

Cool, yeah I figured it may have had something to do with all the mass that was missing once Ed took that chunk out haha.YMI5150? wrote:Thx brother. Those are literally hundreds of hours of effort...

And they do look pretty cool to boot!
One thing I always dug about alot of Ed's guitars is the screw eyelets that he's got on the Frankie in all it's incarnations. He even put them on his main EBMM during that era and now he's got them on his main Wolfies.
I want to put together a Strat-style guitar that will be very loosely inspired by the Frankie and want to put the screw eyelets on it instead of the standard strap buttons.
With your Frankie's can you still put them in a standard Strat case with those eyelets on? That was the only thing I was worried about if I went that route.

I made my 5150 iii head match my black and white frankie. Figured this would be the place to post it.

I'm gonna wait on doing the red till I finish a red black and white frankenstrat. To do the white I bought a sheet of plastic backsplash material and traced a mirror image of the existing stripes, I was able to cut them out with scissors. If you look at the limited edition version you'll see they did the same mirror image idea.

Yeah I get it... It's a nice way to customize your amp and it seems that it doesn't harm it at all (like loosing reselling value)...uncle charlie wrote:I'm gonna wait on doing the red till I finish a red black and white frankenstrat. Now the question, what is inside that wood cab behind the guitar???? Cool headcab BTW

I love it! The accuracy is astounding...the only thing that I could pick out is that the first Charvel logos-including the first one on the original Bee-neck that you are replicating-were smaller than what you have on the headstock, but that is nitpicking. Really great build!

Not sure mine compares with Kevin's but it's close. There's some stuff that isn't true to the time period but I liked...the quarter (although it is a 1971 D) and the pickguard shape. But, well, I like it!!!

Agreed on he logo size. I requested a proper scale but they didn't fulfill it. I need to replace it at some point. My bigger issue is the back is too opaque but I ain't changing it now.
Nice build Roger!
Now I need to post clips with it so Phil will be happy

I really thought about doing a '79 style version but I don't have any guitars with a floyd so I did this.
