1976 Ibanez...see something different here?
Check this and noticed something different about this one. I've never seen this before on any of them. Some of the LP copies were made this way though.

Not much different from the one I have at the house hangin' on the wall...
Don't know the exact year and other than a flip-flop in the pickguard and control cover.
Need to get my hands on some crownhead star tuners...

The entire body is 2 ply. Quite a few pieces. Anyone ever see this on one? I havent.
Was the Ibanez logo white/cream? I thought they were the pearl inlay on these as well?

What are you seeing that looks odd about this one, other than the grain looks an aweful lot like Truffula wood, and the Lorax will have something to say about that!
edit: Oh, they are all made of multiple sandwiched planks, up to six or more for the body and four or five for the neck, Truffula trees are very small.

I was going to mention that, but I didn't have detailed pics of mine from the side. I'll look and report when I take a look at it.......
One thing to consider.....IIRC, weren't guitars from those companies - Ibanez, Greco, Tokai, Fernandes, etc.....a product that originated from (2) primary manufacturing facilities, basically across the street from each other? I wouldn't be surprised if you saw build variances because one facility would built 1,000 of an instrument, and the place across the street did 100 of them on a week when facility 1 was over-busy.....just a theory.

I know the necks are 3 pieces. But the bodies were ply'd? I've never seen that? I think mine is a 3 piece, but isnt ply'd.Strat78 wrote:What are you seeing that looks odd about this one, other than the grain looks an aweful lot like Truffula wood, and the Lorax will have something to say about that!

I thought it was odd that the seams weren't parallel to the neck but I haven't studied many of these.

Well, they look like junk to me. Send them here and I can use them in the fireplace...
