Stormer Influence?
I grabbed this from vhlinks. I never heard of Ed mentioning them or the guitarist Jimmy Bates but I thought this track has some good playing and tone. Apparently he was an influence on Ed. http://www.vhlinks.com/vbforums/threads ... -influence
The extended solo starts around 3:40.

That clip is wild! I'll bet Jimmy Bates wanted to burn the world down the first time he heard his chops coming off a VH album.

Re: Stormer Influence?
His playing is so similar. The real question is "who is copying who"? Is it possible this Jimmy Bates guy was copying Ed?
He sounds absolutely amazing, very lively playing. In comparing the two, he doesn't have Eddie's musical vibrato. Eddies sounds slightly faster and more accurate on those fast runs imo.
Nonetheless, what a treat to hear this.

Re: Stormer Influence?
Everyone seems to think eddie was the ONLY guy that was playing the real advanced highly technical fast playing back then
but there were many unsigned guys like bates, kilgore that were really f**kin great players.
IF youtube had been around back then i dont think the shit storm of praise for eddies playing would have been as great.
