Found an interesting FRANKENSTEIN at a local store. Opinions

Post by 50ONE50 » Mon Nov 30, 2015 4:46 pm

I posted this on one of the other VH forums in case you happen upon it. However I thought I would ask here too. I came across this interesting Franky at a small local store near my house. The store owner has no background info on this build so I want to hear your guys thoughts on if its even worth a damn. I realize its far from what a lot of you guys would call accurate. For one the paint job was done pretty poorly and the striping is far from accurate too. All I had was my phone to snap some photos so I apologies ahead of time for the crappy pics. Here are a couple things I noticed right away:

Tuning heads are not SCHALLER.
The reflectors don't look correct.

The action needs to be lowered but it plays ok for what it is.

Please chime in on what you see and throw in some comments. Thank you for looking.

The site seems to cut off most of the photo. CLICK ON EACH PHOTO TO SEE THE WHOLE PHOTO.

How does it sound? I have a Fender Squier made out of plywood that sounds amazing.

For that price you could buy all the beautifully crafted parts you need from Kne Guitars, Musikraft, Callaham and put together a truly excellent guitar. Sorry, but that guitar is fit for landfill.

Firewood at best. Look closely at the neck PU cavity. Plywood. Try to buy the Floyd separate for like $50.

The paintjob and relicing alone is bad enough that they'd have to pay me $600 to take it.
