What's a Humdinger? A noise gate? VHJunkie has had issues using the effects loop and a NMV Plexi.[/quote]

Is a box that has a isolated output and a buffered output that is used to eliminate earth loops. I used to use it for my pedals before I used to use a battery powered DI and a passive re amp box to eliminate the annoying squeal which happens with many attenuators. I wasn't using it so I tried it and it worked! It eliminated 90% of the nasty high pitch squeal. I'm using the Boss GE10 eq and you have to make sure you have the fx level and ground lift set correctly. I use the isolated out of the humdinger. So I plug the FX send into the input of the Humdinger and the Isolated out to a noise gate then to the GE10 back to the return of the PS. Perhaps you could even build one! I use the eq 95% of the time on all my amps.
