Re: Due in October: EVH® EL34 HEAD
Tx TJ! For some reason every time I hear those EVH amps I hear too much honk and too much chew for my ears. Gotta assume it sounds different there, but the one time I played through one it was the same. Definitely its own thing, just...can't...bond with it.
At it awhile, still learnin'

YES! On all EVH signature amps ever made as far as I'm concerned. They seem to be more and more geared to the "juhm-juhm-juhm" de-tuned Tremonti/Five Finger Death Punch/eyeliner and Hot Topic crowd. I think Eddie has been making equipment that Wolf's bandmate Mark Tremonti would like. Just my experience from the amps I've played going back to Peavey and this current EL34 model that I tried. The EL34 model sounds better than the earlier EVH amps, but it is still essentially the same territory.T.J.Fuller wrote:so even with the gain backed off / still sounds too gainy ???

Re: Due in October: EVH® EL34 HEAD
not a very good speaker on the clips / Celestion but, hi wattage not like a greenback
But, I just bought a Laney 2x12 Cabinet that sounds much better and it had rave reviews so I picked it up
LionHeart 2x12 has hi wattage handling but, awesome mids and bottom end
The pickup I used is a stock pickup, I have one of those newer EVH wolfgang guitars ( the one that is matte army green with Maple Neck )/ not the real expensive one, think is was 1200.00
I don't know for sure but I think is 13k or what ever the bridge Wolfgang's are rated

Re: Due in October: EVH® EL34 HEAD
The recent review from either Guitar World or Guitar Player said early VH tones DO exist but on the second channel. Ed (I'm 99% sure) plays on the third which has ridiculous amounts of gain. I DO like the fact that they came out with an EL34 model for that amp though ala the 6534.
Chris
PS. Can we hear some clips of the amp on the second channel with gain at like 2-3 then mid range then more like 8-9ish? It might "bark" better at those levels...

Re: Due in October: EVH® EL34 HEAD
sure
I will try and throw something together tonight / I will leave off the effects too
Now that I have a couple months under my belt with it / still love channel 2 and still think
it has the VH2 / fair warning tone
Channel 3 with a good chorus pedal / and I can dial in some mean Stone Temple Pilots on the Core album
I bought one of those New Waza Japan / Boss CE-1 clones /
highly recommended guys ( and I hate Boss pedals )
