wow Rueben !

kinda shocked no one has had any comments / that is a way better VH tone than eddie has had in years

about 5;30 minutes in you did a really cool lick that was very similar to EVH on girls gone bad

some of your solos are brilliant ( 7:00 on to 9;00) / at times I thought I was listening to EVH pre -1978

so your lead tone has that killer springy-ness, if you will, for lack of better description, how much does that Variac come into play for that ????

what type of pickups are you using ?

any over drive pedal ??? doesn't even sound like you need one but, thought I would ask.

Well thank you kindly sir!

The variac was only dropped a couple of volts cause I could really turn the amp all the way up. I think it was at 200 volts instead of the common 230 here in the Netherlands. I think the variac is a great sound shaping tool.

The pickups in this guitar are Manlius T-top replica's. I have them installed in most of my gigging guitars. They sound very rich. Almost 3D harmonic, without losing balls.

I'm boosting the amp with my favourite od for years; a cheap 'Made in Japan' Boss SD-1.
Volume turned all the way up, gain according to taste.

Ruben, were you using your '68 Marshall Super Lead in the video? Also, what model Marshall did you have there for a back up?

I indeed used my '68 100 watt plexi on this gig cause I could really turn it up. I mostly use my 50 watt '67/'68 replica though, built by a friend of mine.

I must say that I've seen many of the videos you've posted here and your tone is always great.

Your plexi sounded really good Ruben!

I agree with TJ I can hear your EVH inspired playing for sure. I kept thinking if you guy were just a little heavier I could hear a Badlands song emerge. I watched the show and enjoyed your bands songs I wouldn't call you guys a blues band... more blues inspired rock.

Nice vid and recording where you amp and guitar tone could really be heard.

Very nice chops and tone Ruben. Love that crisp Marshall crunch and harmonic overtones.

Hey Ruben, this is really great and it's got all the best parts of Ed's old playing man. I know impact is probably lost a bit watching a video....but if I was in the audience I would have been going crazy over the tone and licks. Bravo dude
