50 watt bass to lead swap??

Post by joepete » Sun Jan 21, 2007 3:23 pm

I want to know if I can change my 1979 Marshall 1986 bass head into a 1987 lead head simply by installing the metroupolis ptp JMP 50 board? Are there any other differances between the two models besides the boards? How hard is this job to do and would you reccomend doing it?

Well, the late seventies Bass amps were not the classic Super Bass circuit of the late 60's and early-to-mid 70's.......the tone controls are not the same at all.......
Yes, the 50-watt board can be installed but you'll need a wiring kit too, and some extra research due to the differences between the later Bass and the earlier Lead and Bass amps.
