Spacing Between Turrets

Post by Krinkle » Wed May 07, 2008 7:00 pm

What is the (standard/minimum) spacing between turrets? It looks like 3/8" to me but it would be nice to get a confirmation.

Yes, it's 3/8" on centers.

Confirmed this with George M.

Thanks Cole, I just got my parts today and I'm so excited I can't think straight.

I have limited access to a CNC machine at work so I am going to round off the corners of my board and drill holes on a 3/8" grid. I did a test today with a 0.120" router bit in the CNC machine and the turret pressed in perfectly, nice and tight. I already created the program so I'm good to go now that it's verified.

Did you start your new build with the vintage board material yet? I can't get much time on the machine but I could squeeze your board in if you want. You can email me about it if you like. That way you could be sure of proper size and spacing.

I keep attaching pictures to posts but they never show up. Here's a picture of my CNC'ed board that I made for my Trainwreck Express clone (if it shows up).

Seriously, how hard can it be to attach a picture. I have jpeg's that are 53kB in size. I browse, select one file, and hit Add Attachment. What gives?

When you go to attach a picture, before you hit submit, there will be a message if it doesn'y work... I know you can have problems with either files that are too large, if you space is full, or using jpg or jpe... or some extesion for jpeg's...

I converted my jpg to a png that is under 5MB but I keep getting a message "Tried to upload empty file". I give up.

I kept getting the same message for a while too. I was recently able to post a file. Try again.

Krinkle,

New board is just about complete.

I'm excited as hell because I know this build will be fantastic in every way.

This one is getting Mercury Magnetics transformers as well.

I'm doing a stellar job thus far because I am really taking my time and have learned from previous experience on how to do the little things.

Cole,

Did I read somewhere that you were making this amp for your Brother, or did I dream that? Are you sure you are going to be able to give it to him? Or is this a master plan, convincing all of our friends and family that they need Metroamps, so we can have a different one in every house we visit?

It looks wicked man. Very impressive.

I will be in NL (near Gander) the first 2 weeks of August. If I make it into St. John's (not so sure that I will though) would you consider showing me your collection?

My 12000 series should be finished this weekend, I can't wait.

I thank you for the comments. Yes, it for my brother who's a great player and my lifelong best bud...in fact he's my twin brother. My brothers's name is the same as your's in fact, though spelled Darren.

Never thought it but yeah, when I vist him I can always play this one with either of his vintage Les Paul's or his Music Man Axis (sweet guitar).

If you make it into St.John's please feel free get in touch via PM or email. I'd love to chat and show ya some stuff. I am originally from Grand Falls so if you make it to Gander, that's only an hour away from my home town.

Thanks again for the kind words.

I do have one of George's 12 Series parked right here. Serial Number 12026...in orange head case....nice... :D
