eye-lets vs turrets

Post by thyblues » Tue Dec 09, 2008 6:38 pm

Hello:

I was wondering (like always) if there is a difference if the board has eye-lets or turrets. They are a beach to put on. Do you sell some kind of tool for installing them?

Thanks,

eyelets are just metal holoes punched in thick card plates arent they? Fenders were built like that. If you want to try it get down to a dress makers and see what kind of crimpers they have. My mum has a set that does eyelets a little too big for making boards with. They're easy enough to get hold of.

Turretboards.com sells some stakes for installing eyelets. As I recally, you just hammer the stake to flare the eyelet and secure it to the board. I expect you could use the Hoffman staking tool as well (hoffmanamps.com).

A staking tool chucked in a drill press works very well for flaring.
