Hi guys. I have just purchased on of Steves 1969 chassis and was in the market for a custom turret board. I have used Brain H baords many times and love them ALOT!. This time I am building a custom amp for myself and I would like to mix it up a bit. Does anyone make turret boards (or material) with custom finshes (ie, figured maple or other exotic woods) I have seen curly maple laminate in 1/2" material. Just want something different. I have seen Jet Black to Camo. Just wondering. Thanks!

Ceriatone will make a board for you, but you will pay to ship it from Malaysia. About $22 for shipping...The boards they make are pretty clean, and the service is very prompt.

Wood is far from desireable as a board material, mostly due to the moisture content, and the variances in the moisture content in particular (not to mention, seasonal variances). This can have some rather (ahem) "interesting" resistive effects, and won't consistently perform as an insulator, which is the most important role of a turretboard.

I wonder if the pearloid sheets that the accordian makers use have a high enough resistive value?

Sorry for any confusion. I am quite familiar with real wood and it's properties as I am a "woodworker". I would not dare to try real wood in this application. What I am taking about is not real wood. Here's a pic of what I have. What I found was too thick for a circuit board though. It's just coated with something that "looks" like wood but its still a paper based laminate SRBP. Its just for looks.

What about using some Pergo?

Seems to me I've seen two-rocks with 70's masonite wall paneling boarsd.

I guess my only concern would be that its still a recylcled wood and filler product underneath. We have a laminate floor manufacturer in town and what they have is a dense particle board with a fake wood top. Not sure about the properties when applied to electrical situations. I believe it might be OK for moisture though. Thanks for the tip.

Not sure about that. MDF absorbs moisture like crazy.

Yeah the flooring stuff is not typical MDF. It's a fiberboard laminate but it's more woody than like standard mdf found at the box stores. The stuff in the pic above is real SRBP laminate with a fake wood finish. Still would like this kind but it's most likely not made any thinner. I'll come up with something.
