soldano style heater wiring

Post by jngreene79 » Wed Jun 28, 2006 4:36 pm

Maybe this is the wrong section to ask this in, but has anyone seen/does anyone use the Soldano (maybe Hiwatt too) style heater wiring method? If that's vague, the heaters essentially run straight accross (one wire) and feed each pin via a small cut in the wire insulation? It looks really nice and I imagine that it keeps any AC hum down to a minimum, especially in high gain preamps. I believe I saw a DIY job where the person soldered small grounding lugs (like those a radio shack) to the pins. They insulated around the base (that is soldered to the pin) and ran the heater right across all tubes. Just wondering. I'm getting ready to build a high gain Marshall style amp with a totally independent clean channel. 5 preamp tubes. I don't want a rats nest in there. Thanks, James
