2 Channel Marshall Build

Post by wdelaney72 » Mon Jul 28, 2014 11:14 am

It's been a long time in the making and I've been gone off the forum for quite some time. I wanted to share my latest build with everyone. This build spanned over a year...a divorce...a relocation...and a job change. All that while continuing to raise my 2 kids and play 1-2 shows a month with my cover band.

What we have here is a 2 channel footswitchable amp. Channel 1 can be either 1959 or 2203. this is controlled via toggle switch in the rear. Channel 2 is either 2203 or 39 Caswell. this is also controlled via toggle switch in rear. Switching is used via relay. This looks a mess but it's very quiet due to lots of shielded wire and DC to v1. Panels were made by Mojotone. Blank chassis from Watts. Iron by ClassicTone.

Hope all is well with all my old-timers on the forum.

Hi Walter

Sorry to hear about events, hope amp building was not to blame (remember the builds under the stairs!).

You have packed a lot in there, how do you like it? 8)

Thanks....life is good...sometimes ya just hit a few speed bumps along the way. Getting this thing finished really felt good.

I'm really happy with the switching....I believe it was Joey that suggested the 10ohm resister to ground to help tame any popping. That seems to work very well. Switching is done after the the .022 v1A output cap and then right before the PI....this allows for seperate tone controls, but requires 2 cathode follower tubes.

this will serve as a great gigging amp once I build the cabinet. I really, really like 6CA7 power tubes in the MV circuits. I can't wait to actually do a couple of shows with it!
