Who needs faceplates/backplates?

Post by 6burgh » Wed Apr 27, 2011 5:04 pm

So, I'll have two '68 chassis from George showing up and if Brian W. gets enough interest, then two 50w chassis coming. I don't have faceplates yet for any of them. I've heard sparky has very good faceplates, but I'll still need backplates as well. I was thinking about also putting in a custom order from Amplates.com so I figured I'd ask if there's interest for getting a more "bulk" order together since there's a flat $25 set up fee for each order regardless of number of plates made. I haven't gone searching for new faceplates before since I've always been lucky through George. Any interest?

I'm looking for a 50W back panel, unless Brian Wallace makes some for his chassis.

If they are very authentic, I might be interested in two 100w back panels as well.

Sparky is one of the better parts sources that I have found anywhere. Very trustworthy and the quality of his parts is outstanding. Deal with him and you won't regret it.

Alright, so how do I/we convince him it's worth his time to do back plates and become the sole source? I've heard such good things that I was already planning on doing the fronts through him...

What is the best way to communicate with him for parts? PM or email?

I'm having no luck with Google... :bang:

Does Sparky have a website?

Is this the same Sparky from the Metro forum?

Hey, it's me. Thanks for the kind words. I've tossed around the idea of doing back plates, however, it is difficult to do less than 100 or so because the setup costs for commercial printers are so high. I've tried some prototyping methods with decent results but it was so time consuming and the yield so low, it was a losing proposition. I've thought about trying this again, but I've been stretched really thin lately. It took me two months to make the time to drill out a batch of panels. I have a bunch now. If you guys need front panels, I can hook you up. Back panels would be summertime at the earliest. Sorry.

Panels look nice. Pricing? Do you have any recommendations for rear panels that will work with the 50W chassis that Brian Wallace is looking to build? Thanks

I'm definitely in no rush and I know I need at least 4 sets of plates. I know that's miles from the number you need, but I hope its a start! Your panels look awesome! I'll get my front panel needs together... should I PM, email, or just shout it out loud here? :D

+1 on the panels for back of the 50w, I haven't even looked into those yet...

Thanks Sparky!

You can just PM me. They be $35 shipped to the lower 48.

Are you guys needing panels for 50W or 100W chassis? My prototyping method only works to 17" wide. I'd have to check with my printer.
