building a power soak/ load with a line out.

I am wanting to build a Attenuator/ load with a line out. Has anyone done this successfully?
I want to setup a 16 ohm one. I have found some stuff online but am not sure what diagrams to trust.

There are simple power soaks schemes, but they sound no better than THDs... If you want some thing really useful, look at the Rivera - StoneCrusher or Faustine Phantom, may be a Friedman attenuator too, Alex Attenuator.

In case you decide to buy instead of build, take a look at the Jet City Jettenuator. I've got one. It eats the full output of my Bugera 1960 without a problem. It also has a line out 1/4" jack and a speaker simulated XLR out. I haven't tried the XLR myself, though, so I can't say how that sounds as compared to a real speaker, but there are some YouTube videos of it.

If it says "Designed by Soldano" it's worth the money :) Played trough Jet City 20W head, and I liked every second!
