Can a PP 2xEl84 have more bass?

Post by Haze13 » Fri Sep 04, 2015 8:14 am

I am doing some prototyping with these tubes. It's a cathode biased type power amp with a negative feedback. B+ is 350 but it's adjustable :) So I can go as low as 50 and more than 400. Current is 60mA or so trough both tubes with 350 on the plates. resistor is 180 ohm with 470uf cap.
It's more or less Brown Eye/jose arredondo type pre amp w/o zeners and el84 type power amp with a negative feedback (second gain stage has a 22nf cap instead off 2.2nf - morre bass).
I hear enough Bass but not as much as jcm800 2204 at the same volume. Is there any chance that I can get more bass out of two el84? I heard some other amp (stock amps) like Dr.Z mazerati, Peavey Classic 50, Fender blues junior, Jet City 20H and none of them has that bass that I would like. The first two are loud, but not more, and the last one is close to what I like...
If not, I'll just leave that idea and will made a stock 18 watt marshall out of it which I like too because of other reasons :)
The OT is a ot19pp musical power supplies.
