JTM 45/100 Replica

Post by bill bokey » Sun Feb 07, 2016 3:05 pm

A few pics of a JTM 45/100 Replica I just built with Marstran PT, OT and choke, SoZo NexGen and Rifa capacitors :

And here are three clips with the following settings :

Volume 8
Bass 0
Mid 10
Treble 5
Presence 5

All are the same riff reamped through three different cabs, a '69 1982B loaded with T1281 G12H w/Pulsonic 102 014 cones :

Then a Mojotone 4x12 loaded with a pair of Scumback H75-LDC and a pair of V30 :

Finally a '71 1960B (checkerboard) loaded with T1221 G12M w/ Pulsonic 102 003 cones :

Recorded with a condenser mic facing the logo, about 50cm in front of the cabs

Excellent, really clean and tidy, has a European look about it!

Thank you guys ! :)

Here's another clip which is only a mix of two previous clips, with G12M and G12H :

By the way I removed the PPIMV before the recording of these clips, the amp is not loud enough, it definitely needs no PPIMV or attenuator.

I'll post more clips tomrrow, with GEC KT66s and Mullard preamp tubes. Should sound pretty good !

Maybe, I'll have to check. I think it was around 70-75% but the quad is quite unbalanced. I've just ordered a new set of KT66s ;)

Nice. Very nice.

Dumb question. I noticed the Alpha pots except for the 1 meg PEC pot for bass. Any reason why you used a PEC pot for the bass control?

Wow, a work of art. JIm would have been proud of you. What dimension is the power board ? I need to make one.

I find the PEC pots sound cleaner and I tend to use them for bass.

Thanks ! :)

Chassis is a Metroamp, from Valvestrom. Back panel I drew on Photoshop from original photos and had made by Modulus Amplification.

The whole thing looks awesome, really great job. It has inspired me to build one for myself!
