Bassman Channel 1, Soldano SLO channel 2

Post by wdelaney72 » Mon Feb 06, 2017 10:43 am

I wanted to build a different 2 channel featuring Fender clean, but I didn’t know where to go on a gain channel. I landed on a Soldano. I’m not very into high gain amps and was hesitant, but figured that if Warren Haynes likes it…there must be something to it. Boy…..was I pleasantly surprised. The Soldano channel absolutely screams if you need that, but also makes for a great rhythm channel with gain rolled down to to 2-3 and the right EQ of Treble, Mid Bass.

I play in a cover band and used it for the first time at show last weekend. The only compromise I had to make was no bright cap on the fender channel. I started with 330pF which I loved buy with the Tube Rectifier, the bright cap just made the volume overpower the rhythm channel. At some point I’ll likely add switchable volume pot for the bright cap so I can still use it. The SLO circuit is no secret and details can be found over at the SLOCLONE forum.

Sounds exciting.

You have a lot going on in that chassis!

If I could get by without separate TMBV for one channel and just a volume/tone control?
