My first build was clone of a Fender 5F6-A Bassman. Great amp, I built it as a combo with 2x10" speakers. I later modded it into a JTM-45, then a 6V6 Plexi, and finally a JMP50 clone. From there I later built several SE amplifiers and a couple of push-pull amplifiers. My current project is a Valco push-pull clone.

The Bassman shares DNA with a lot of the push pull guitar amplifiers that followed. It isn't too complicated, sounds great and since you will probably build more, it is an excellent intro into tube guitar amplifiers.

There are numerous kits available to get you up & running pretty fast.
