I'd probably go see VH live again if they could get DLR to mime to the vocal tracks, but talk in-between songs, while the rest of the band played and sang live. Cuz DLR can't sing live anymore. I remember Vivian Campbell way before he joined Def Leppard mentioning in an interview how groundbreaking it was that Def Leppard had included in it's Hysteria tour sampled background vocal layering tracks to make it sound more authentic. I was at that tour (back when they had the revolving stage) and it sounded incredible. Everything else was played live. Anyone see how bad The Cars or Queen suffered live without their signature Roy Thomas Baker vocal layerings? Actually, I don't think it should be used for lead vocals, but in DLR's case I'd make an exception because he's so cool to have around in the band again these days and on the LP's especially...
Right on the money Phil. That woman right there was the real deal. Much more than Maya Rudolph's mom!
Here is someone I'm proud to say is a friend that is a real vocal monster with real backing vocals from Keisha Jackson and Chinah Black who are real people and real friends as well:
If you want real music with real singing...go see Erykah. She's a road dog and will be playing near you at any given moment.

Well, despite my reservations about his singing in a live setting, I'm glad to see that DLR's voice sounds as good as ever in the studio on this new track... "Mustang Sally" performed by Roth... Not bad at all, IMO...
