Wiring the 6.3V Indicator Lamp???

Post by GIBSON Les Paul » Fri Sep 09, 2005 11:07 pm

Hi guys,

Im on step 10 on the kit and ran into a problem. Im unsure how to wire the 6.3V lamp. Can anyone explain this to me? And by the way, this is my first experience with wiring amplifiers.

Good so far. (I was going to post questions, but searched em first and got the answer. ex: blue and gray PT wires. you guys are good!).

Thanks in advance. :D

Look at the first power tube socket, where you hooked up the 6.3VAC from the transformer to the socket. One indicator light wire will go to one of those connections, the other to.....the other connection (could you see that coming?) It does mean you will have three wires on pin 2 and three on pin 7 on that power tube socket (one tranny, one indicator and one going to the next socket in line on each of those pins) so it may be a little cramped.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Oh and just wondering, do I need to put that insulation there like in the pic?

If you're careful and neat you can probably get away without it, but if you've got some shrink tubing handy why not go ahead, it certainly can't hurt and may prevent a short someday.
But I'm sure I've skipped it a couple of times.

Or you can run them directly to the PT with certain Trannys.
I'm at a simliar stage, and have a 2.5 Drake Laydown PT with the heater terminals on the PT.
