Am I the only one who thinks some of Rockstah's old clips sound closer than Ralle's clips?

Ralle's clips are ridiculously close, great stuff.. I like Rockstah's also I think they're very close..

I wish I had an amp to butcher into EVH specs but im not prepared to go modding my '69 SB when it's in such perfect stock condition.. Will have to get a '68 metroamp to tweak for that illustrious tone.

I posted a question in an older thread with no response, so I thought I might try again here. If you can recall ralle's VHII clips, I was curious what power tubes were used. My initial guess was some NOS EL34's but now I am thinking maybe the JJ EL34's. Does anyone know?

I should post some clips because I am chasing the tone like many others. I have VH I and WACF pretty well understood. It is interesting because a lot of assumptions are made based on photos and talk of live rigs. But I don't think what was done on tour necessarily matches what was done in the studio.

In payment for a response to this question, here's a hidden gem that you might not have known about: http://members.tripod.com/azdz/articles ... vh1995.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Great interview; thanks for posting that.
Dweezil seems like a big fan who's genuinely ecstatic to be talking to his idol.

I did think RAlles were the best clips when I joined this forum, but since then, I think rockstar's work, mod 5 etc and then his slaving -exhibit a clip is the best I have heard yet!

Will a CC 1k 1/2 watt resistors work here?

Thanks Mark! Yes, I think my 50w does have the 1k but I'm gearing up to order a 68 kit and am trying to get all my ducks lined up: Pooring through the old threads and learning allot and having a ball:D
