1968 69 70 &71 Marshall 4x12 cabs

I have a 68 Marshall cab and a 70 and a 71.If I remember correctly the 70-71 are the same inside and the 68 was a little different. I know its been said before but 68-71 what are the cab specs for each year?Strip of wood on bottom inside 68 cab etc. Thanks Mark

First off while it is convenient to identify cab differences by year I don't think that is accurate. Those changes were not restricted to a model change they just happened at some time as the need arose.

What we do know is the strip of wood inside the baffle came first, the corners came second and nothing there came when the push in wheels gave way to the screw on caster cups.

You need to think in terms of time periods that overlap into different years. as an example Aug 1969 to some point in 1976 for a 9" logo. or Jan 1969 to Mar 1970 for baffle triangles. (not an expert on the exact dates, but it illustrates my point). As another example a cab from Jan 1971 would be a lot different to one made in Dec 1971. There were different changes made throught that year, basketweave to checker, metal handles to plastic etc.

What year would these 2 cabs be from?? A and B cab with the following.Large Ck cloth,Metal handles,laRge center post and a ply back? Someone said most large ck cabs didn't have a ply back.These 2 cabs would probally be 70 or early 71?? Thanks

either been re-grilled or early 71.

71 was a transitional year so there are all kinds of different looking cabs from that year. I reckon they would have to be one of the first few checkerboards out the factory if they have a ply back. are the handles riveted on or screwed on? screwed on would make me suspicious they have been re-grilled, but im not exactly sure when the first rivets appeared. got any pics?

Now that I think of it the one was from 70 for there was no cloth on it when I got it!I can post pics but they have been recovered.I do have the original cloth for the 71 cab.It(70) has handle screws and the 71 cab had rivits!! I will post a before and after pics Here is the 70 Cab

Wonder what year this cab is?? Speakers aren't original. Im hopeing 68 but probally 69 or 70!!

Do you have any pictures that show the bottom inside? hopefully at the base of the baffle?
