Echoplex Tape Reload
Read the info on the Regis site. Looks easy enough. Anyone here attempt this?

Re: Echoplex Tape Reload
Any suggestions on good quality 1/4'' tape. Stuff is easy to find, but what is considered good quality?
I have an old Judas Priest 8 track but doubt thats what I'll use.

I've done it multiple times. It's super easy. You won't have any trouble.

Re: Echoplex Tape Reload
The BASF tape is the best one, I've reloaded a lot of Roland Space Echo with it and works really fine.

Re: Echoplex Tape Reload
I found a large reel of the BASF stuff. $69.00. I have an EP3 and an EP4 I need to do with 3 tapes. Maybe thats not a bad deal?
I understand the NOS stuff as its been sitting around too long, so stay away from it?
What do you think of this? It's local and cheap, but thats not really of importance.

And here is the BASF:

Re: Echoplex Tape Reload
I vote definitevely for BASF:

And if you have some questions about tapes and reel-to-reel, you can ask a very good expert in Echoplex and Roland, Marciek Polak (info@analogia.pl). Here is his web site : http://analogia.pl/en/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I learned a lot of things with him
Hope these infos can help you.

Re: Echoplex Tape Reload
I went with the BASF. I guess even changing the tape once a year or more I'll use a fair amount over time. With a large amount, do I need to get a reel, or does it come on one already normally?

Re: Echoplex Tape Reload
Ok, so I got the tape. Its on a large flat piece of cardboard in the original BASF box. There is a small center wheel but its not on a larger reel with side walls so you can turn it on its side. Just ordered a few 7" empty reels to put it on.
My question is, how do you get it from the box to a reel. Maybe I need to post a pic.
I have enough tape for about 500 reloads....

Re: Echoplex Tape Reload
Good catch for BASF. My experience with tape delay's is limited to Roland RE series, with large tank for the tape, no cartridge at all. Pix will help a lot!

Re: Echoplex Tape Reload
Here is the BASF i purchased. Its about a foot in diameter. Stll waiting on some 7" reels to put it on. My question is, how does one do that? If I turn this on its side, its going to fall everywhere?

Re: Echoplex Tape Reload
Just off the top of my head, I would leave it on the flat on cardboard and stick a screw or nail through the center. then just wind from there or wind it onto a large wheel. You should have asked me, I have a bunch of reels here.

Re: Echoplex Tape Reload
Yeah, thats a good idea. Ill have to put something underneath that can spin. This reel weighs about 5 pounds. I could have a 10 hour delay with this.rgorke wrote:Just off the top of my head, I would leave it on the flat on cardboard and stick a screw or nail through the center. then just wind from there or wind it onto a large wheel. Re: Echoplex Tape Reload
'For you tape experts...slightly off topic...but what do you suppose the tape bias is on those old UNIVOX EC 80 tape cartridges? High, Meduim, Low...Type I, Type II, Type III, Type IV, etc?
Thanks.
Thanks.
