Any ideas on how to salvage? I've seeing the kit on stew Mac. There's not enough meat exposed to bite into. Nut at headstock end failed at the weld. May have to pop off the fretboard. Doable by heating?
Cheers

Most modern glues will not separate by heating. Sounds like quite an issue. Any pics?
This vid, you'll see he uses a cutter to cut into the neck wood a bit to expose more of the rod. Not sure of the tool costs but if you want to save it, maybe your only option.

Is it a set neck ? If so, you would be better off replacing the whole neck. Expensive to say the least. You would come out better getting an Epi Explorer and do it all over again.

Re: Sharks got a broken truss rod
The good news is it is playable. The strings are high in the upper frets most likely due to incorrect tilt angle. I'm fudging it by shaving the bridge height adjustment nuts. It'll be fine for what it is.
It sounds incredible.

Re: Sharks got a broken truss rod
I have both an Epi and an Ibanez....since they are not bolt ons , doubht it would be an easy switch....
would not recomend the epi...as far as using the neck....
the frets are not precise and will not intonate without a earvana nut......tone wise the epi is not half of what an Ibanez is.....just sayin'

If you have an original Ibanez Destroyer or a guitar you really care about, take it to an experienced tech and let them do the work. If they know what they are doing they should be able to fix it for under $100 including bench fee. I leave everything to the professionals.
