They sound fine but are lower gain than the EH, JJ and TS.

@benny, I forgot I had my brite caps on a switch, just tried the 220p setting, yeah it rocks like that. i havnt used that setting in quite awhile, it keeps the amp a little cleaner, more bell like sounding on SCOM, although I do still like the 780p or 5n brite cap for some more dirt when I want it especially at lower volume, which sucks cause I havnt been able to crank the amps lately......

Have you tested them? And did you check the bottom to see if they have a "J" or "JS"? I wonder if the Chinese made some of those tubes for OEM's, and other companies to re-brand that were not made to the same spec as those for the military. I checked my Ruby's and they didn't have anything etched on the bottom like my Beijing Military, and Sino's do.

great play beeny, this is a very important part of showing a good tone!

I've been using 100pf bright cap, and 2 10k/100n instead of 10k/100n and 10k, frank told me to use 10k/100n and 820/470n but i dont liked.

I have listened to them in my amp, I have not put them on a tube tester. I have a total of ten, but only have three here to see if the J or JS is there. The rest of them are at my home. Some have the Marshall logo, some have red lettering and some have a dark grey / black lettering that looks like it says Engl or something similar. A few of them sound higher gain and a little better than the others. One has different color, I think light silver plates. I looked for the J or JS and there appears to be something similar on the bottom, in the center, between the pins. I'm not sure, maybe I can see it better when I go outside tomorrow. Where exactly are those letters supposed to be?

I noticed on a couple of mine the "J" is hard to see because of the way the bottom is. When I hold them up in the light however, I can see the "J," it's not as clear as the ones with the "JS" but it is there, vaguely, and much bigger. I have found the etchings to be all around on the bottom, between the pins, in no particular place. Some are off center, while others are right in the middle. It's kind of like word find.

Yes, the letters are harder to see because the glass has a frosted appearance in that spot.

I find that some of these tubes sound better in different preamp slots than others. For example, I like to put the most distorted trebley tube in my PI position. I like how my power tubes react to it. The others I just keep rolling them until I get the right combo, in the right slots.

I don't know Benny, I think that sounds more like the AFD100. Sorry, I think you was closer some time back. It seems to have lost it's sparkle, or something. Sounds like there is too much low-mids, like the AFD100. I thought you pretty much had it nailed here:

Great playing btw. I love those chromatic descending Slash style runs. Just my honest opinion, I'm sure it sounds different live.

I decided to look at my shielded wires and got rid of most of them. I also got rid of the 33k second stage grid stopper. I think the tone has improved slightly and the punch increased. Here's another clip but recorded at 24bit, which to my ears sounds more natural.
