Sounds fine man. I ended up with no shielded wire, except from the input jack. Never kept any plate snubbers. I sometimes use a 10k grid stopper or none. I heard a difference using around 47k stopper on stage 2. Which power and preamp tubes did you use in that clip?

Cheers. Originally I put in the 2nd stage 33k to provide a little more control to the top end, but since I stabilised the gain and treble with a resistor in line with the 2nd and 3rd stage cathode bypass caps and a large treble bleed cap on 2nd and 3rd stages, the 33k becomes a bit redundant. I was thinking of putting a 10k instead of the 33k, but I tried without one first and the amp seemed fine.

Preamp tubes were NOS Chinese Military 6N4's. However, the reissue Mullards sound extremely close as well.
Output tubes were a pair of reissue Mullard EL34's fed via a 120k equivalent PPIMV, set on max.

So you guys say that 6N4's are the perfect pre-amp tubes for the #36 mod? Tube Amp Doctor sells these tubes and I might order a few if you guys recommend trying them in my #36.

this is the last clip
https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10 ... nref=story

after this clip I realized that with this scheme created a strange treble resonance.....so i have added a 470pf on second stage anode......now is better....same sound without resonance

for coffetone, i have 2 LCR NOS and 4 tad-ars filter caps.....all are in perfect condition

for Prowler, yes i have buy TAD china nos.....

for Unique: i don't have change schematic....is the same amp....i have simply changed preamp tubes....probably the phone mic don't have recorded the sparkle.......

That's cool Benny. Did you test the caps with an ESR meter?

This sounds better, IMHO. The mids are more pronounced with the right character, and it doesn't seem to be as low-mid heavy as before. If your recording through a phone mic, then yeah, that's more than likely not going to give a good example of what the amp actually sounds like. Not to mention, where you place your phone, just like a mic, during your recording will have a great impact of the final sound. The closer to the center of the cone, facing it, the brighter the sound. Pointing away, or off center, will dull the sound and add some warmth. But much better.

I don't think they're the right ones. The getter only has one lead in that photo. The ones on the tube amp doctor page look like the ones I've got, with two leads going to the square getter. I got mine from ebay at http://stores.ebay.com.au/xulingmrs.

Thanks for clearing that those were wrong tubes! I just ordered four 6n4's from TAD. I am expecting them to arrive in a week or so.

That sounds right. Are you still using shield on stage 1 and 2? What are your settings?
