Hey MetroAmpers,
I plan on getting a Metropoulos 68 Cabinet loaded with the Heritage G12M 20s. Here's my question: has anyone blown one of these speakers up NOT DUE TO MISUSE? These speakers are rated at 20 watts (labeled anyway) and one 4X12 with these is supposed to handle a 50 watt Plexi and two 4X12s are supposed to handle a 100 watt Plexi. I know my 1959HW actually puts out much more than 100 watts at full volume which is where I play it most often. But does it put out enough power to put an overload on eight 20 watt Greenbacks? I wouldn't think it would put out more than 160 watts but I've been told the 100W Plexis put out 190-200 watts at vol 10 and I've been told they put out 120 watts at vol 10. I like saturation and cone cry but I don't want to push speakers hard enough to tear or blow the cones like some have said the 20W Greenbacks are prone to do. Not real concerned about the doping-no doping issue just if anyone has blown one up or how they behave at full volume. Thanks in advance.
Anyone's Celestion Heritage G12M 20 Watts Blow Up?

I don't know about modern Celestions, but back in the 60's and 70's many players blew up the G12M's running the amps flat out.
Playing a 100w with a single 4x12 cabinet... sure. With two cabinets, it wouldn't blow up usless you play with a Marshall Major like Ritchie Blackmore, who used to blow speakers in each gig.

Thanks Carbia! I have a 1960AHW cab with heritage 30's in it which is rated 120 watts RMS. I'm going to keep this one and see how it sounds paired with a 68B loaded with G12M 20's. Volume 10 impedance selector 8 ohms: into these two cabs you don't think any of the G12M 20's will blow?

I don't think you'll have any problem
