Princeton Reverb Power transformer rewind

Post by whopperplate » Sun Aug 14, 2016 12:14 am

My seventies silver face princeton has blown the power transformer and I am wondering where to go to have this thing rewound/rebuilt to accurate vintage spec. Any recommendations? Thank you all

MM offers a couple of rewind options depending on how much you want to spend. You may also want to check with Heyboer to see if they also offer a rewind service. Another option would be to purchase a replacement from Classictone and replace the new covers with your old ones. It will lose a touch of resale value this way but for me, having the original OT is more important.

I only have intentions for rewinding. I have heard of all these options, but I am yet to hear anyone's conclusive opinion on who can provide the most vintage faithful and accurate rewind.

I have heard Mercury is thorough, but heyboer and marstran have good reputations as well. a reputation for accuracy is priority.

Thanks

If Brian has time to do the teardown I would wholeheartedly recommend Marstran (IIRC Heyboer do his rewinds).

Thank you neikeel!

This amp has basically become my number one player, so my patience on the turnaround is high as long as it is done properly.
