Sure ! Happy to help. I'll soon be back for three days then going to Greece with the lady. Send them to me, i'll post them as soon as possible.
I could even mod a joe gagan wah that i got from him recently, to experiment with it if some would like to hear it maybe.
I'm also curious about the fuzz prototype that we started a year ago, it should be fun to link the whole chain : west coast amp, fresh new honey univibe, dave weyer wah, and dave's fuzz prototype.

Like I said, I'll be posting the pics of Jimi's Wah soon. I just finished the photos and got confirmation about all the components used in the pedal just to make sure I hadn't replaced something along the way and forgotten about it.
It's an 846 with the mods which became standard at West Coast Organ and Amp Service.

I'm working on another 'West Coast' amp :



A Marshall SLP I upgraded with a M e r r e n C1998 OT and a new turret board.

Here's where I'm at now : around 500V on the plates (can't go any higher with the stock PT), 2K2 screen resistors, shared cathode V1 with 2n2 V1b cap, lead TS and 22n PI caps, 4n7 bright cap, 3K4 OT (mismatched C1998), 12AT7 PI, Tung Sol 6550 (reissue) biased at about 33% Pa, 68K/8 NFB, standard filer caps (for an SLP) 50µF all around.
I think it sounds pretty good ! Will post a video asap

By the way, George, or a mod, please : it seems that the forum has some troubles, some peoples can't have access to it, even by testing through some other computers, Dave would like to post about the wah but there's a problem, it redirects him to some kind of error page.
Can you do some verifications please ?

I am currently tweaking the fuzz so it works ok with the wah.... I replaced the 100nF cap with a 10nF mustard, that got rid of the low end mud. But now I need more gain from the fuzz....

through which path will you work to get more fuzz ? changing the transistors ? changing some resistor values ? the dave weyer way was interesting to get more effect : the Hendrix way ...
we should have done a specific topic about this fuzz. maybe we could copy and paste all that was written last year, in a new thread ...

interesting, please post some pictures when you get to the sweet spot ! i'll mod mine too. hope that the input bias works fine

I am actually trying to find the info Dave gave us regarding the fuzz. I'm reading the fuzz experience topic but I can't find the stuf about the high gain fuzz Dave told us about.... Is it in the other thread ? The West Coast thread ? (EDIT : that would be THIS very thread ! )

I actually need more gain and more highs when the fuzz is engaged.

Interesting! What is the mod on the fuzz? I would want more gain for a full on BOG tone, but it has a certain gradual and controlled gain curve to it that sounds rather nice. Would be interesting to hear this with a Uni-Vibe in line as well.

I'd love to try it with a Univibe but unfortunately I haven't got one.

Here's the schematic for the JH-F1 :

I removed C5, and replaced :
R1 -> 100k
C3 -> 10nF
R2 -> 33k (VR1 set to 0)
R4 -> 6k8 (VR2 set to 0)
R3 -> 1k5

There is also a 15k resistor in series with the input, soldered on the input jack.

This is Dave's way to increase the output of the transistors, before the volume stage of the fuzz. So it can deliver such gradual fuzz or drive i'd say, even without fuzz gain , or very little, between 0 and 2 as dave described jimi's fuzz. is it correct Bill ?

Remember ? with dave we did a fuzz experiment last year, removing some resistors out of the fuzz, the 330 ohms and the .. 8k2 i think, and placed a 20k pot in there : the middle lug of the pot going to the 100n just before the volume. this was to show that it could deliver a boost and drive and a bit of fuzz, even with the fuzz gain pot at zero. and guys didn't want to believe that jimi used only the volume of the fuzz, mainly.

Well here it's a version with fixed values, based on a 10k pot instead of the 20k.
will do it on mine now, and with the univibe clone.
