I didn't delete any threads. Is it gone? Or just died meaning activity dropped off?
Seems like many forums have tapered off over the last few years. I see lots of familiar faces on facebook groups now. There are lots of them, dedicated to building tube amp, vintage marshall clones etc.
I keep this forum up mainly as an archive for all the great info you guys have posted here over the years. We've been fortunate to have some incredible engineers hang around and share knowledge.
I still have a pipe dream of revamping the 100 watt superlead kit someday. I bet that would drive some traffic here.

That would be GREAT, George! Esp. a '68VH Custom! Loving those Metro guest-jammer videos 'from the Basketweave Room' on YouTube as well!

One day I'll get it done. I have most of it finished virtually, in CAD.
I'll try to get more guests to come through and play amps in the demo room. The mics are usually set up, just gotta hit record.

Re: Well..... What did happen to the secret pedal thread ?
Summary of Secret Pedal Thread:
Nitro (not on the forum anymore) said there was a secret pedal
Good Guest said there was too, but wouldn't disclose what it was. He did hint that a Colorsound Overdrive would be very close.
I pestered the crap out of Good Guest until he caved and said he thought the secret pedal was a Univox Uni-Drive (UD-50).
Good Guest disappeared.
I couldn't find a Colorsound Overdrive, but Throbak makes an Overdrive Boost that's essentially the same circuit. I used it in front of a Super Lead to record along VH backing tracks, and TWANGGG eq'd the tracks. The results were pretty neat - sort of an interesting footnote in tone chasing:
http://www.twistyneck.net/twangedband08 ... twisty.mp3 I'm The One
http://www.twistyneck.net/twistyOF08141 ... eqverb.mp3 On Fire
I scored a UD-50 and although I didn't bother recording with it, I can confirm it's a hell of a lot of fun in front of a dimed Super Lead. It's like trying to ride a bucking bronco. The Throbak Overdrive Boost is fun too - I started hearing the "bloom" of the chords in I'm The One like I hadn't before. To be fair, I felt like I got very similar results playing around with a Super Lead run at 60 volts by itself as well as reamped through another amp (Super Trem in this case)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaZCbrpbHUk 60 volt Super Lead reamped through a Super Trem
Compare all of that to these additional crappy cell phone vids:

net: secret pedals are fun! Plexis are fun! heck, everything is fun!

I’ll have to search for some of the Facebook groups.VelvetGeorge wrote: ↑Mon May 21, 2018 10:15 amI didn't delete any threads. Is it gone? Or just died meaning activity dropped off?

Would love to build a 12 series amp kit, I’m a little late to the party but would love to build a kit!

There is a new book available from the Van Halen store with tons of pictures from the 78/79 tour, many of which have never been published until now. There is also a picture of the Colorsound Tone Bender which Good Guest may have referred to. Here are a few of those pics.

Well that's pretty interesting about the Colorsound Tone Bender pedal. Looks like an old authentic film pic and plywood duck tape in the early EVH style of pedal board.

That's Michael Anthony's Tone Bender that he used for his solo.
