thanks! - the reason i posted the clip is I'm running an evh spec - it does van halen nicely and yet at the same time its does this kind of tone. wondered if any of you would find this interesting. but then again the train of though in both cases is " all u need is a nice sounding plexi - dimed... well i had the volume on 8
the spec I'm running.
shared cathode. 820/250u
.0022u bright channel coupler.
560pf on the bright channel mix resistor.
820 on v2 with no bypass cap.
56k/250pf tone stack.
.022u output couplers.
NFB = 4 ohm tap
4700pf cap on the bright channel volume.
mains = 50u
screens = 16u
PI = 32u
preamp dual 32u
into a 76 Marshall straight cab loaded with the prerola clones from Ted Weber.
the amp doesn't really break up until 6 or so.
i have also notice that using the bright cap value only really sounds good if u are pushing the amp past 7 and i like what it adds.
below 7 it makes the amp sound way to bright.
note: so opinions on if " should use a bright cap and what value should have the consideration of 'where r u riding the volume?' should be thought of when making this decision.
if i never brought the volume up past 5 i would think ' that cap has got to go!" and missed what it actually can add.

yeah that neck pickup is a must for some of the great strat tones.

560pf mix resistor

Re: superbass spec
hi mark!
your sound is fantastic as always!
in your opinion what does the bright cap adds pushing the amp past 7?
recently I've upgraded my slp with a '69 metroamp board but i decided to remove the bright cap, to me sounds more "bluesy" with volume before 7 and making a comparison with bright cap in, to me it seems don't change the sound too much when pushing the amp all the way up, maybe for the bright cap value?
