Sounds like hypogleacemia.....sorry french name
Cut sugar and eat complexe corbon hydrates for your sugar intakes..
Things with a smooth GI (Glycaemic index) give a slower rise to the blood glucose and are less likely to prompt an overshoot response from the controlling mechanism and the rebound hypoglycaemia you are experiencing.
It sounds like your doc is onto it (GTT and hormone assays?) to find out why this is happening.
As 5150lovededdie says pulses, bran, soluble sugars are good (so is normal ice-cream funnily enough).
Eat small meals - graze through the day - no blow outs!
Sometimes see it in people who have had old-fashioned gastric surgery for ulcers, but you should have a thorough workout to see what is going on with your Insulin/Glucagon control mechanism.

(p.s. you measure glucose in a strange unit (grammes/liter), either that or we do (mmol/litre) in Europe. A glucose of 70 in your units is not that low (=3.8mmol/l) to be pathological (ie
not thinking wierd pancreatic tumours) - might make you a bit grumpy tho'
