Frank work on Rocket studios in NY (Queens) it's a very cool place....like SIR...have many amps and cabinets....

i have try 34 and another mod that Frank call MK7 (a 3 stages mod like 34 but with the same gain of 36).....Frank say that 34 and 36 are too bright...he have change his sound taste in the years.....

here some happy moments :D

What schem would you recommend for building preamp with #34 and #36 mods in one?
Maybe 2203/#34/#36 or something like that but for only preamp without power section, not full amp.
I want to build it right from the start. I don't want to tweak my amps.

As I said before that schem should work, if you are anal about your tones you may need to tweak - fact!

If you want to be satisfied then you have to learn to tweak your amp. I started from a kit amp from metro and a soldering iron. No experience at all. I had to learn what every component and connection in the amp was and there relationship to one another. It can take years of tweaking and learning to accomplish what you want. It wasnt easy or fun a lot of times. It can be very frusterating and hopeless at times. But all the hard work and endless and I mean endless hours of experimenting and tweaking have paid off. There are a ton of people here that are willing to help and share knowledge, which I personally am very thankful for.

But now I have a 3 channel footswitchable dual master volume kick ass monster of an amp that kicks the shit out of anything you can buy. And that to me makes it all worthwhile.

My advice is: buy a second hand jcm800 or plexi and make only a 34 or only a 36 mod....34 and 36 sound very similar simply changing the setting...34 have only less gain

i see you have an afd100....so, you will understand that a jcm800 modded in 34 or 36 don't sound like this....sound very better

The lower head is a 34, the upper head is a mk7 mod.....On Rocket call these heads #1 and #2....both amps are late 80's jcm 80
So Frank said " come on, take number one and number 2 for Benny" that's cool
