Guthrie Govan writes for English guitar mags, and writes transcriptions and plays the tracks for the attached cd-roms.
I have some tracks that i will try to post here, from a tonefest type appearance. He is brilliant, that's for sure!

That would be cool Malmsteen.... I mean that guy can play country, or fusion, jazz, blues, etc... as good... most versatile player out there....any style he will blast you out to space, that is what is so freaking unbelivable with him...

I got a kick out of his Benny Hill theme too.

The original Benny Hill theme is probably my 4 years old son's favorite song. He calls it "The Benny song". You should see him dance when I play it. Cute would be an understatement.

Here's another one,he has a combination of techniques, plays legato style well, ect.I have a lot of his transcriptions from my English guitar mags and he can make the most unlikely guitar and amp setup sound like a classic tune, recorded with completely opposite equipment!

I stumbled across this guy at NAMM. He was jamming in one of the little 10x10 booths on the aisle.
Really impressive..........for about 3 minutes.
Then got real boring real fast...zzzzzzzzzzzz
BTW, the place that he's playing at in the vids, The Tone Merchants is located not far from me. I went to stop in one day after work. They are OPEN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY DURING THE WEEK AND ONLY OPEN TO THE WALK IN PUBLIC ON SATURDAY. How f'n pompous is that???
You would think it's gonna be a pretty heavy place when you do get in, right?
It's bullshit. They have a couple of amps, couple of guitars, couple of effects. I think Govan was even there that day. I won't be back.

Boring, I agree. Not to overly categorize the dude, but those "technical" type player's really miss the point of what music is to me after, you said it, about 3 minutes. I really love some of Guthrie's soloing, but he is all the time to smooth and undynamic. Greg Howe is real good at over playing. He knows how to communicate better, I believe.
